Cool! - Michael Morpurgo

It all started with a bright, sunny day. While Robbie was just laying in his bed, he heard his mother shout from the kitchen. "Robbie! Go take Lucky outside for a walk!" He wasted no time and quickly went outside while holding Lucky's leash.

It was fine for a bit, when Lucky suddenly went crazy and ran towards the road. Robbie tried to run after him, went suddenly everything went black.

Fast forward, Robbie was now in the hospital. He could hear and feel everything, his parents crying, his sister jumping on his bed and so on, but he couldn't see, move or talk. He wanted so bad to tell his parents not to cry and that he was feeling just fine.

Days, weeks, months passed but Robbie never did wake up. His parents seperated, and never came together to meet him. It was only either just his mom alone, or his dad alone.

One day, his homeroom teacher came to visit and she brought a tape with her. It was a voice recording of Robbie's classmates telling him how much they loved him and hoped that he will finally wake up, but it was no use. Robbie did feel warm and happy, but he still couldn't wake up. He wanted to wake up, he really did, but he just couldn't.

It was getting close to Robbie's birthday and his parents organised something very special for him. The news quickly spread that Zola, a famous footballer, and Robbie's favorite player, was going to visit Robbie for his birthday.

There was a bit of chitter chatter around Robbie's room when suddenly, a soft but stern voice said, "Hey Robbie, It's me. It's Zola. I came to see you, because I want you to wake up for your mom and dad. You want to wake up for them? For me?"

'Yes! I want to wake up!' Cried Robbie inside. He wanted to scream, but he couldn't. The doctors said that he might be able to wake up if he touched or met something or someone he liked. Trust me, he really did adore Zola, but no one knew why he didn't wake up. Zola then said he had to go and train, which is why he left Robbie. Even so, Zola decided to bring his jersey that day and happily gave it to Robbie.

Robbie then felt that he could talk to Stacy, his personal nurse through his head. After he got his bath with the help of Stacy, he said in his mind 'Stacy, please put Zola's jersey on me' over and over again. He was about to give up and stop when suddenly, he could feel that Stacy was changing his clothes. It worked! He shouted in his mind.

A lot of people thought of giving up, but his parents didn't. When people thought that nothing would help him wake up, his parents told him that they decided to get back together, which of course made Robbie very happy, but he still didn't wake up.

Days passed, when Robbie's parents came to visit him again, this time with his little sister and Lucky, their pet dog. Yep, you guessed it. Lucky didn't die, I think he just got hurt a little bit. Once Lucky saw Robbie, he immediately ran and jumped on top of Robbie while licking his face with no mercy.

Robbie was in a state of euphoria. He was so happy that Lucky didn't actually die. He tried, tried and kept trying to open his eyes, when suddenly his world wasn't just black. He could see Lucky, his parents, his little sister and even Stacy.

It's amazing. Because of Lucky, he was able to wake up. He then remembered that Zola told him if he wakes up, he would be able to train with Zola and get free tickets to see their game. And of course Zola didn't break his promise.

Robbie was glad to be back. ☆゚.*・。゚

In my opinion, this book is really cool. It teaches us that we shouldn't give up, cuz at the last minute, something will make everything perfect again. This book is literally so soft and cute. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
