Christmas Lunch 2016

On Christmas Day, Mr and Mrs Henderson invited my dad and me for Christmas lunch. We went to French Park Road. It's about 35 minutes from west of Wagga near Lockheart. It is a very old house, 100 years old. It's on a farm. They have dogs, chickens, horses and more. Before we had lunch, we opened the presents. I got a small tin full of cookies and $10. My dad got a box full of cookies. There was lots of choices to eat for lunch. There was turkey, prawns, chicken, vegetables and so on. There was soft drinks too. There was lots of different cakes for dessert, I chose pavlova. It was sweet, yummy and delicious. My dad also chose pavlova. He loves pavlova. I also rode a horse! It's name was Apple. They have two more horses. Apple was quite high. I haven't rode a horse before. I have only rode ponies. It was very fun. Pip held the rope. My dad was taking pictures. We rode till we reached the mailbox and back. After riding the horses, we played a game called Pie Face. Pip got it as a Christmas present. All four of us played it (Pip, Meg, Charlotte and me). Charlotte got pie in her face more than anyone else! I also got cream on my face. But not as much as Charlotte. At last, we had to go home. It was the best day ever.

Omar Khayyam

Once, I asked my dad what was the best novel. He said Omar Khayyam. Then, I became curious and asked my dad, what is Omar Khayyam. He said that it was a very long book. It has 372 pages! The writer was called Harold Lamb. My dad have read it once, in a library. The story is about a man called Omar. This book is about the life of Omar. He was a scientist, philosopher and a famous poet. He always goes to a mosque near a fountain to pray. There was also a girl. Her name was Yasmi. She didn't like Omar. Mostly because he looked dirty and always reading second books from morning till evening without paying. Then, Omar's friend (Hassan) came. At the beginning, Yasmi fell in love with Hassan. One day, Yasmi's cat got stuck in a tree and she tried to save her cat but she got stuck too! She was shouting for help and dreamed that Hassan would save her. But instead, Omar came. He told Yasmi to jump down but she didn't want to. In the end, she jumped and looked at Omar's face closer than ever and thought that Omar didn't look that bad from up close. And she fell in love with Omar. They were going to marry but then, disaster came. Yasmin's father forced Yasmi to marry someone else. Yasmi was about to get married, but she ran away. Omar was very sad and angry to hear that Yasmi got married. He forced himself to spend more and more time in his labrotary to learn more stuff about astronomy and calendars. He didn't know that Yasmi ran away. That's all I've been told by my dad. He always say "next part tomorrow". I hate it when he does that. He tells one part every night before going to sleep. I'm loving the story so far.

Wagga Show

The Wagga Show comes every year between September and November. It's in the Wagga Showground on the corner of Bourke St and Urana St, Mount Austin Wagga Wagga. The first Wagga Show was in 1864. At that time, they put cattles, sheep and horse exebitions for attractions. Even till now (2016) the Wagga Show is still on business. The Wagga Show became one of the oldest sheep shows in Australia. When we went there, we had to pay $50 (per family) to get in. There was many things to do there. It was also very bright because there was light everywhere. I went on the bungee trampoline. At first I was scared but then, I started jumping. My dad and I went on the Body Rock. The man said that I was too short to be able to ride it but my dad said that it was fine. It turned out that my dad was the one screaming! I was having fun. There was also a Hurricane ride, but we didn't go on it. The whole family played a game (that you have to throw a ball through the mouth of a clown) and won prizes. There was also people selling Hot Dogs and we bought 4 (one for each of us).  There were fireworks for 20 minutes. It was very cool. We played Lottery too. We got a ticket each but we didn't win anything. There was also a Show of handwriting. I won for being the neatest handwriter in the whole of Wagga! I won twice, in year 1 and 2. I love the Wagga  Show, it's fun and exciting.

Watering

When we water plants, we normally use watering cans and hoses. But in Australia, there are all sorts of hoses. Hoses are very long here. There is a special hose that have holes in them, so the water can come out of the holes. There is also a circle thing that you can put on the end of a hose and the water comes out of all sides of the circle. There is also a stick shape thing and it can swing in all directions. People here loves plants so they also like watering. They love grass too. I have seen people mowing their grass. Many people have lots of land here, so they will spend half of them with plants. My dad loves plants. I do too. Because we want all part of the lawn watered, my dad and I put a timer every 10 minutes, we have to move the hose to a different part of the lawn. I would like a big house with lots of grass and plants.

Toby and Holly

I would like to share about dogs. I remember Mrs Henderson had a dog named Toby. Mr Tony loved Toby. Once, we had dinner at their house and Toby was circling the table because he wanted to play. Toby was a big dog. That is why my brother was scared of him. Actually, my brother is scared of every dog. Once, my mum and my brother went to their house while I was at school. My brother played with Charlotte. Charlotte was holding a biscuit in her hand, and Toby scratched her face! While my brother was running as fast as he can to mum because he was scared of dogs, Toby looked guilty. Unfortunately, Toby died because he was too old. Now, they have a new dog named Holly. Holly is a girl.
